Protein Overnight Oats

This protein overnight oats recipe is built for mornings when there is no time to cook. Everything except the toppings goes into one small container the night before: old fashioned rolled oats, unsweetened vanilla almond milk, a scoop of vanilla protein powder, chia seeds, vanilla, and cinnamon. Cover it and refrigerate, then stir and finish with fresh berries and almond butter.

How to Prepare Protein Overnight Oats

The method is a single-container assembly: no cooking. The oats soften in the almond milk while the chia seeds help set the texture. In the morning, the mixture is stirred well, and a splash more almond milk or water loosens it only if it has become too thick. The named toppings — ½ cup fresh berries and ½ tablespoon almond butter — go on right before serving.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup old fashioned rolled oats
  • ¾ cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • ½ tablespoon chia seeds
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ cup fresh berries, for topping
  • ½ tablespoon almond butter, for topping

Step 1: Combine Everything Except the Toppings in a Small Container

Add the oats, almond milk, protein powder, chia seeds, vanilla, and cinnamon to a small container. Stir until the protein powder is evenly mixed in and no dry pockets remain. The berries and almond butter stay out for now.

Step 2: Cover and Refrigerate Overnight, or at Least 1–2 Hours

Seal the container and place it in the refrigerator. It can chill overnight for an early start, or for at least 1–2 hours if you are making it earlier in the day.

Step 3: In the Morning, Stir Well

Take the container out of the refrigerator and stir the oats thoroughly.

Step 4: Thin It If Needed with a Little More Almond Milk or Water

If the oats have set up too thick to stir comfortably, add a little more almond milk or water. Add just a small amount at a time until the texture is spoonable.

Step 5: Top with Fresh Berries and Almond Butter and Serve

Pile the ½ cup fresh berries and the ½ tablespoon almond butter on top of the stirred oats. Serve.
